I'm really pleased to say that my solo show at the Waterloo Gardens Tea House in Roath is going fabulously! Thank you to everyone who came to the opening; I was very touched by your support. I've made my first sale, another pending, and I've had an enquiry for a commission for a series of works........and that's all in the first week!

Everyone who came to the opening was entered into a draw to win a small piece of artwork.

I'm pleased to say that the winner of my giveaway was my art teacher from high school, Molly Curley.

Molly is a ceramicist and has her own solo show opening at Llanover Arts Centre in Romilly Road on 27th April.

So, here are a couple of pieces from the show, and remember it's on until 8th May if you missed the opening.

I've been working on my first solo show at the Waterloo Gardens Tea House in Roath, Cardiff. Anyone within driving distance is cordially invited to the opening on Thursday 11th April. I am combining it with a giveaway, and all who attend the opening evening will be entered into a draw to win a small mixed media work.

Maybe see you there!

Opening night is this coming Friday 9th November at the Washington Gallery in Penarth, and the show is on until 15th January.

The work has been submitted (phew!) and the little glimpse I had of other artists work promises a varied and interesting show.

I've brought out the Shoreline Triptych for another outing, and hope to sell it this time as I've lowered the price and there's been a lot of interest in it on Pinterest, Flickr etc.

Here's a sneak preview of some other mixed media/fresco panels and canvases I've submitted:

There are also some great crafts for sale by local makers to suit a range of budgets, so why not pop along to the opening for some mulled wine, mince pies and music.............and maybe get some Xmas shopping out of the way at the same time!

Hope to see you there

Seth Apter is a mixed media artist who runs a collaborative project called The Pulse. Currently he's engaged in a series of 'favourites' he's collected by asking artists to talk about favourite pieces and why they're important to their body of work. This week I'm in the selection with an old painted collage that changed the way I worked at the time. Many thanks to Seth and his unwavering commitment to getting artists together and introducing new faces!

So, here's some of the new work that I exhibited recently at the Washington Gallery in Penarth.

These are botanical leaf/dye prints that I scanned and then printed onto Arches 88 paper, mounted on natural linen canvas stretchers, then I added drawn and printed images of insects.

Well after all the hard work, the show opened a week ago at the Washington Gallery in Penarth. Our work is very different to each other's, but I think it all adds up to a vibrant and visually interesting mixture. If you're in the area, pop in and let us know what you think. It's on until 7th September.

I managed to produce nine new pieces for this show, and I was doing some very long days running up to the installation. It didn't help that the flat roof over the bathroom at Ty Cariad started leaking, so I had to dash up to find a roofer and get it replaced!

Anyway, I've tried photographing the works at the gallery, but the lighting there was not conducive to decent shots of some of my new work. I did manage to get some of the triptych below, which is a meditative set of mixed media paintings/gelatin transfers that I think are rather successful in a melancholy kind of way.

They look much better in the flesh too, and the sky painting in the background of each one is more defined. I'm getting to grips with my large format printer now; we've reached an understanding after a long and arduous early relationship, in which it definitely would have gone out of the window had I been able to lift it!

I contributed to Seth Apter's The Pulse (of Mixed Media) again recently. This time he asked artists to do a still life. It's not a form I'm well practised at, but I had a go. I love the way Seth gets you out of your comfort zone sometimes!

Anyway, this was my offering:
