Just finished my latest commission for my good friend Anne. This one was a long time in the making, has been to Ty Cariad and back, and has been through at least five different transformations. It settled at last and the final coat of varnish is drying. Mixed media gelatin print and acrylic painting 60 x 50cms.

I've had the good fortune to be able to spend a couple of weeks in March at our beloved Ty Cariad; lots of walking, painting, cooking and doing odd jobs.
It has been a very productive month and it's all ready for the holiday season. I can't believe how happy a bit of gardening and sewing up some new cushions for our guests makes me feel! Some new artwork for the walls too. First visitors are due to arrive next Saturday so might find time to pop back up there in the week to do a bit more pottering and tweaking.

So in December I designed my first shawl (yay!) I've always wanted to do it, and this is a very simple one to start with.

It hasn't been blocked yet, and this will make the spaces between the stripes more apparent. Also the lattice border will be more open and lace like. I quite like the little turned up picot edging and I'm pondering on whether to turn it outwards when blocking.

I've also made a pair of Sweet Tea fingerless mittens to match Swoon, photos to follow..........

I've had a wonderful year with a group of friends here who meet monthly to stitch and bitch. It's been great to pass on some of the tradition and eat, knit and laugh with a fabulous bunch of women!

Thank you to everyone who came to the opening; I was very touched by your support. I've made my first sale, another pending, and I've had an enquiry for a commission for a series of works........and that's all in the first week!

Everyone who came to the opening was entered into a draw to win a small piece of artwork.

I'm pleased to say that the winner of my giveaway was my art teacher from high school, Molly Curley.

Molly is a ceramicist and has her own solo show opening at Llanover Arts Centre in Romilly Road on 27th April.

So, here are a couple of pieces from the show, and remember it's on until 8th May if you missed the opening.
